The collection consists of 3 boxes of audio recordings on 1/4-inch tape, cassette, and Digital Audio Tape, chronicling the rehearsals and performances of the new music ensemble BL Lacerta, including events with John Cage and with Pauline Oliveros, as well as the group's 1983 recital at Carnegie Hall.

Biographical or Historical Information
BL Lacerta is an improvisatory chamber ensemble founded in 1976 by music students at what was then North Texas State University, and was named for the astronomical radio source and active galactic nucleus in the constellation Lacerta. The group performed widely around Texas, particularly in the Dallas area, as well as in a recital at Carnegie Hall on October 31, 1983, which received a positive review in the November 4, 1983 New York Times. Collaborators over the years have included John Cage, Pauline Oliveros, Stuart Dempster, and Deborah Hay.
