This collection contains original materials from Warren Norwood’s writing career as well as his speeches and artwork used for inspiration and portrayals of Norwood’s works. Of Norwood’s thirteen published novels there are outlines, drafts, proofs, and final published copies of his series The Windhover Tapes, including the novels An Image of Voices, Flexing the Warp, Fize of the Gabriel Ratchets, and Planet of the Flowers, which was renamed Planet of Flowers, the series The Double Spiral War, including the novels Midway Between, Polar Fleet, and Final Command, the series Time Police, including the novels Let Them Vanish, which was renamed Vanished, Trapped!, Stranded, which was co-authored by Mel Odom, and Twisted, which is an unpublished version of Refugee! and was also co-authored by Mel Odom, the novels The Seren Cenacles, which was co-authored with Ralph Mylius, Shudderchild, and True Jaguar. Copies of his music books Uncle Warren’s Baritone Ukelele Course and Uncle Warren’s Mountain Dulcimer Course and his drafted sheet music are included along with copies of his speeches “How to be an Overnight Success in Only 20 Years”, “Muddling Toward the Millenium”, “A Report from 9991”, his poetry collections You and Me, The Otherwiseman, Poetry and Me, Almost a Tree, and New Poems and Poetry, which is incomplete, manuscripts for his plays It’ll Keep, How to Fight Turmoil and Influence People, and Angelica Breaks the Family Circle, a manual titled Writing Fiction for Profit, and a Directory of Tarrant County Grant Makers, which was co-authored by Gigi Norwood. There are also notes, outlines, drafts, and submission copies for Warren Norwood’s works Rocker, SHIFT!, The Grumpy Old Fart’s Book of Truth for the 21^st Century, One Night’s Child, Musil, “Heavenside Song”, “Alien Instincts”, “Dream Child”, “Makin’ Do”, “Private Pursuits”, “Metalingus”, “Momma Made Me Do It”, Caleb Rock, Freespace Vigilantees, Traveling, Beyond the End, Past Remembering, Chaco, In a Bright Room, The Silk, Klutz, Calvin, Flux, Sis, Godmother, Fables, Claws that Catch, Rule of Threes, Correct Fare, Please, Art of Love, “Under Alien Darkness They Lay Down”, “A Narrow Angle of Hell”, a bibliography of Norwood’s published novels, his school essays and papers, his journals, datebooks, sketchbooks, photographs, drawings, and leatherwork, some of which was used with Norwood’s works. There are promotional materials for his books that include posters, ads, convention newsletters, newsletters for the Science Fiction Chronicle, Locus, Nebula Awards Report, and Frontiers!, clippings of reviews of his work, and material for events that he attended and judged. Also in the collection are books that were a part of Norwood’s own collection, including The Yoni: Sacred Symbol of Female Creative Power by Rufus C. Camphausen, poetry anthologies and literary magazines featuring Norwood’s work, books and paraphernalia from and about the Vietnam War, books that have review blurbs by Norwood, materials Norwood received from other authors, and correspondence to and from other authors, publishing houses, and friends.
