This collection contains photo negatives of the Lake Whitney Views newspaper in Whitney, Texas, spanning from the years 1950 through 1990. The Lake Whitney Views was a newspaper running from 1950 to 2014 and the creator of the first official bass fishing tournament. The images provide a history of the newspaper as well as snapshots of significant events in Hill County over the decades, including photos of bass fishing tournaments, rodeo and beauty competitions, thermocline readings, recreational locations, boat shows, local public figures, and business locations. Photo negatives of lodges such as the Oak Lodge, Pioneers Cove, Redwood, Ridgewood, Rocky Canyon, Rocky Creek, Sparks Sports, Sportman’s, Sunset, and Uncle Gus’ are included in the collection. Negatives related to organizations, including the Waco Bass Club, Taylor Ready Mix, Shields General Store, Shady Grove Café, and the Turner Agency are also within the collection. Photo negatives of the opening of the Lake Whitney Dam in 1951 also appear.
