Scope and Contents

This collection contains papers, photographs, materials and records pertaining to work Davis carried out as a lawyer in the Denton County Area of Texas, which includes the municipalities of Argyle, Aubrey, Denton, Highland Village, Justin, Krum, Lake Dallas, Little Elm, Pilot Point, and Shady Shores, as well as for the non-profit senior citizens nursing facilities of Fairhaven, located in Denton, Texas, the government agency of Farmers Home Administration, and local government agency Lake Dallas Municipal Utility Authority. This collection also contains additional papers such as appointments and speeches, recommendations and certifications, legal aid correspondence, legal notices, personal correspondence, photographs, and other material related to Davis' life and work.

Abstract

Bruce Davis (b. 1913) was a North Texas State Teachers College alumnus, lawyer, former Denton City Attorney, and World War II veteran who died in 1974. This collection contains materials such as paperwork and photographs relating to Davis and his work as a lawyer in the Denton County Area of Texas.

Arrangement Note

This collection is arranged into one series, Series 1: Papers, which consists of nine boxes of materials. It is further split into sub-series arranged alphabetically by subject to reflect the different cities and agencies that Bruce Davis worked with, as well as one that contains his personal papers. The folders found within each sub-series are also arranged alphabetically and contain the same titles that were given to them by the collection creator, Bruce Davis.
