Scope and Contents

Both the 1962 and 1988 time capsules were unearthed on April 16^th, 2015 in celebration of the UNT’s 55^th annual University Day. On May 10^th, 1961, University Day was established to commemorate the designation of North Texas State College as a university. The 1962 time capsule was inspired by a similar capsule United Students of North Texas members viewed at the Texas State Fair. Contained within the capsule are numerous issues of Campus Chat, copies of university publications, audio recordings from campus events, and other objects.

Biographical or Historical Information

The NTSU 1962 Time Capsule was buried on May 10^th, 1962 on the first annual University Day. The capsule was buried in front of the Administration Building, and measured 9 x 14 x 11 and weighed 350 lbs.
