Biographical or Historical Information

The Tex Tan Western Leather Company, founded by Philip Welhausen in 1919, began as a tannery in Yoakum, Texas.  Initially known as the Texas Hide and Leather Company, the company expanded from a tannery to a leather goods manufacturer.
