Scope and Contents
These records consist of the following: an abbreviation guide; an act establishing the program; documents concerning committee, conferences, funding, program policies, procedures, and its establishment; pilot programs and studies; documents concerning the Model Cities program in Albuquerque, Austin, Eagle Pass, Edinburg, Houston, Laredo, Lawton, Little Rock, McAlester, New Orleans, North Little Rock, San Antonio, Santa Fe, Texarkana, Tulsa, and Waco; monthly reports; a MAP review; financial reports; new or corrective projects which include career opportunities, local executive reviews and comments, migrant evaluations, and a talent pool; OE data collection; Operational planning; documents concerning Flower Mound New Town, REO, TREND, Regional Contact people for Non regionalized programs, Spanish- speaking grants, special services for disadvantaged students, summer expedition for Gifted Students; and Intergovernmental relations documents which include Federal acts, agency meetings and conference papers, departmental policies, departmental communications, reports, and program phase-out papers.

Abstract
The records of the Model Cities Program detail the establishment and development of the federal program in the Southwest region. Included in these papers are examinations of the programs in sixteen of the selected cities in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana.

Processing Information
Previously, the records were part of a processing project in 2001 where all materials were refoldered and reboxed. The order that the materials were placed in during the 2001 project did not change during the final processing in 2014.
