Biographical or Historical Information
Mr. Abrams has been a professional artist living and working primarily in Dallas since 1978. He was born in New York in 1948 and moved to Dallas after having received a B.A. in Art History as well as a Master’s Degree in Library Science. John has exhibited in numerous galleries nationwide and locally. Most work of late consists of corporate and institutional commissions. Clients include: Merrill Lynch, IBM, Children’s Hospital of Dallas, Brinker International Restaurants, Apple Computer, and Walt Disney World Orlando. He works in several mediums, including pastels, pencil drawings, acrylic paintings, and wood sculptures. John has lectured and taught art at area community colleges, the University of Texas at Dallas, and at the Creative Arts Center of Dallas. John is an avid doodler and all “finished” artwork invariable begins with these sketches. His work typically is whimsical, brightly colored, textural, and with emphasis on geometric elements.
