Abstract

The Levi Perryman Collection, 1871-1917, documents the life and activities of a Texas Sheriff and Tax Collector from Montague County, Texas, illustrating the difficulties of collecting taxes after the Civil War and the increase in criminal activity.

Arrangement Note

Materials are arranged by correspondence, financial documents, legal documents, printed material, and then as oversize items. The boxes are held in Willis Library and the transcripts are at the RCL.

Physical Access Requirements

Box 1829 and 1829b are housed at Willis Library and available for same day paging. Box 3 is stored off-site and requires a minimum of 24 hour notice prior to use.
