Scope and Contents
This collection consists of Swingin’ Eagles financial records, clippings, fliers, photographs, newsletter, guestbook, and a scrapbook. Photographs include negatives. The scrapbook includes the history of the organization, Code of Ethics for Square Dancers, Constitution and By-Laws, Explanation of Duties of Officers, lists of officers, list of code words, bank statements, campus calendars, clippings, contacts, fliers, guest lists, photographs, and tickets.

Biographical or Historical Information
In the Fall of 1973, Joyce Laflin began teaching square-dancing classes in the Physical Education Department and hosted a student dance. The following year in the Fall of 1974, students elected officers for the group. However, it wasn’t until the Fall of 1975 when the Swingin’ Eagles was an official university club. The Swingin’ Eagles met every Tuesday at the old Lab Band Hall and held their first American Heart Fund Association Square Dance at Texas Woman’s University. Subsequent dances were held at the Coliseum and performances were showcased on campus and the surrounding Dallas-Fort Worth area including Cooke County.
