Anshel Brusilow Collection
College of Music
Records, publications, artifacts, and photographs concerning the music program at the University of North Texas.
David M. Schimmel
The collection consists of the papers of David M. Schimmel, including compositions and teaching materials.
Dr. William P. Latham Collection
The collection consists of about 50 boxes of Latham's compositions and papers.
Edward Baird Collection
The collection consists primarily of audio recordings of performances by Baird, along with a few other performers; and two books of Jewish liturgical settings and sacred music.
Gene Hall Collection
The collection consists of sixteen boxes of papers, correspondence, memorabilia, newspaper clippings, and music for jazz ensembles of various sizes, as well as one piece of realia.
J. Frank Lively Collection
The collection consists primarily of photos, along with proofs for a plaque in honor of Leon Breeden, graphics for a plaque for Kenton Hall in the Music Building, Stan Kenton memorabilia, a large black-and-white poster of John F. Kennedy, a plaque in honor of J. Frank and Mary Lively from the UNT Jazz Studies division, a bust of Stan Kenton, and other ephemera.
Jack Roberts Recordings and Photographs
The collection consists of two boxes of reel-to-reel tapes, cassettes, photographs, programs, and newspaper clippings from former UNT piano professor Jack Roberts, who served on the music faculty from 1957-1999. Reel-to-reel tapes comprise most of the collection, and are primarily of Roberts' own performances in solo and ensemble settings, along with some performances by students and colleagues.
Jazz Studies Collection
The collection consists of materials generated by or related to the Jazz Studies program at the University of North Texas College of Music.
Larry Austin Collection
A collection of compositions and recordings of musical works by Larry Austin (1930 - 2018), a composer and former music professor at UNT.
Larry Walz Recordings
The collection consists of one box of reel-to-reel tape recordings donated by pianist and former faculty member of the College of Music, Larry Walz. Most recordings are of Walz' own performances, but also include students and other performers.
Leon Breeden Collection
The collection consists of Leon Breeden's extensive, and often self-selected archival materials from his entire career, during which time the One O'Clock Lab Band and the UNT Jazz Studies program rose to international prominence. Also present are personal recordings and writing, compositions, memorabilia, photos, and materials from his time at Texas Christian University, in New York City, and at Grand Prairie High School.
Marceau Myers Papers
The correspondence, publications and documents from the office of the Dean of the School of Music.
Martin Mailman Collection
The collection consists of ten boxes, three of which contain reel-to-reel tape recordings of Mailman's work, along with a fourth box which includes works by other composers and concerts and recitals featuring his wife, Mary Nan Mailman. Boxes 5 through 10 were received in November of 2016, and are awaiting processing.
Maudell Baker Collection
The collection consists of three boxes of materials related to Maudell Baker's life and career.
Merrill Ellis Music Collection
The collection consists of 53 boxes of performance materials for all of Ellis' works: tapes, cassettes, slides, films, instructions, masters, etc. Also included are tapes of historical importance such as the John Cage Lecture, the Roy Harris Informal Evening, and a tape of Ellis discussing plans for the construction of the current Music Building.
Michael Collins Research Collection
The collection consists of 23 boxes containing papers and materials related to research for Collins’ many publications.
Moon Maids Instantaneous Recordings Collection
The collection consists of one box of instantaneous sound discs of radio programs and live performances featuring the Moonmaids and the Swingtet (sometimes "Swingtette"), which was the forerunner to the Moonmaids at the University of North Texas. A few related performers (Page Cavanaugh Trio) are also present.
Murchison Performing Arts Center Planning Documents Collection
Materials that were used to prepare an exhibit on the development of the Murchison Performing Arts Center.
Nova Ensemble Collection
The collection consists of nine boxes of materials relating to rehearsals and performances by the Nova music ensemble, including scores, parts, and audio tapes (reel-to-reel and cassette). Compositions range from twentieth-century classics to pieces commissioned by Nova and the University of North Texas’s College of Music. Some scores are accompanied by notes from the composer or reference recordings.
Paula Homer Collection
The collection consists of 17 boxes of media from UNT Opera performances directed by Prof. Homer, and other materials related to her career with the UNT College of Music.
Richard Dufallo Collection
The collection consists of 21 boxes of scores, correspondence, audio and video recordings, photographs, and materials for his book, Trackings.
Robert L. Marquis, Jr. Collection
The collection consists of two boxes of photos, band parts, and saxophone method books from Robert L. Marquis, Jr., dating from his time with the Aces of Collegeland.
Silvio and Isabel Scionti Collection
The collection consists of one box of scores and manuscripts, both published and unpublished, programs, newspaper clippings, and photographs related to the careers of Silvio and Isabel Scionti.
Stefan Bardas Collection
The collection consists of reel-to-reel recordings of Stefan Bardas' performances as a concert pianist.
